Ms. Brutt joined Gemini in 2019. She came to D63 from River Trails School District 26 in Mount Prospect, where she served for 14 years as a 7th and 8th-grade language arts and math teacher, as well as a school team leader and member of the building problem-solving team. Brutt began her career teaching mathematics at Cicero School District 99’s Unity West Junior High.

Assistant Principal Brutt holds a BS in elementary education and middle school mathematics from Peoria’s Bradley University and an MA in educational leadership from Concordia University.

Mr. Hurley joined Gemini in 2025, having previously served as Modern World Languages & Culture Chair – as well as a German language teacher – at Cincinnati’s Walnut Hills High School. He began his career as a foreign language teacher at Roncalli High School in Indianapolis.

A graduate of Indiana University with a B.S.Ed., where he also majored in German, Mr. Hurley holds two M.A. degrees: one in Germanic studies from Middlebury College in Vermont and a second in educational leadership from Miami University of Ohio.

Ms. Perelgut has been Assistant Principal at Gemini since 2015, having previously served for 5 years as Assistant Principal at District 63’s Apollo School. She joined Apollo in 2003 as a primary and intermediate teacher, and also acted as a professional development coach there. During the 2018-2019 school year, she served as Interim Principal for Mark Twain School. Assistant Principal Perelgut began her career as a kindergarten teacher at Orchard Place Elementary School in Des Plaines.

After receiving her B.S. in elementary education from Northern Illinois University, Ms. Perelgut earned an M.A. in school leadership from Concordia University in River Forest.

Mr. Mackin joined D63 in 2022, having previously served as Dean of Students for St. Charles CUSD 303's North High School. A licensed clinical social worker, he also works with Barrington Behavioral Health and Wellness as a therapist/clinician. He began his career in education as a social worker at Wheeling CCSD 21's Cooper Middle School, ultimately moving into the Dean of Students role there. Before kicking off his education career, Mr. Mackin was an Associate Producer for the Judge Mathis television show.

A graduate of Illinois State University, where he earned his BA in communication, Mr. Mackin holds an MA in educational leadership from Concordia University and an MSW from Aurora University.
